How to Seduce A Texan by Karen Kelley.

How to Seduce A Texan by Karen KelleyI love Karen Kelley's books. I thought they're perfect if you just need to smile, have a good laugh, and get some sexy reading. ♥

Nothing too emotional to weight you down too.

It's kinda hard to stop reading this book, I love reading every moment when Nikki is roughing it at the homestead, and can't wait to know what Cal is making her do next.☺

Despite those.. unbelievable situations, Nikki is tough. Many times she made me think, hey, I should adopt this the we-can-do-it! attitude :P

But I wouldn't want to be called a barracuda. They're ugly.

Bessie 1 & 2 hahaha.

I want to hook Cal's butt too.

And that poor, poor rooster. ☺

^ It may be the reason why I will continue to look out for Karen Kelley's books. ☺

My Favorite Phantom.

I needed something funny & easy to read and not emotionally draining, so yeah thank you for the existance of Karen Kelley's My Favorite Phantom.

The pfffrrrrt and the zapper is <3.

I had hoped for more, the ending is kinda abrupt for me.

But then I'm really, really glad that the annoying guy got pfffrrrrt.

No need to save the world here.

During the time when I was thinking up and working on a new design for this blog, I was reading Hell On Wheels by Karen Kelley. Now Karen Kelley is the author whom I go to when I'm not in the mood to read another romance novel that involves saving the world from the clutches of evil do-ers. Yes, just a plain, funny & sexy book. Gimme.

No surprise, I totally enjoyed Hell On Wheels. Favourite parts? Josh Pierce, the hero, kept talking (and thinking) about how Cody (za heroine) smells, for like a million times. I smile whenever I read those parts, and it does not feel repetitive. And the wedding! It's really hilarious. Josh and Cody are together most of the time in this book, and for this alone I can give a romance novel high marks. It's a big deal for me how much of a book do we have the hero and heroine interacting. At least 95% please? ☺

I can't wait to read How to Seduce A Texan, by Karen Kelley too. Go read the really funny excerpt.

Me Reading, Book Covers, and Misc.

I was preparing to blog, but I was sidetracked by my Google Reader, and found this:

A Great Kisser!
From Donna Kauffman's blog here. Wow. Just have to post it first. I love it when authors post BIG, high resolution, reeally good quality covers.

HelenKay Dimon's blog maybe undergoing redesign as of now, (till 24 March), but I can still access her old post via Google Reader. Cool rite? Glad I didn't miss her "Cover Unveiling" posts!
Holding Out For a Hero. Kissing Santa Claus
Holding Out For a Hero, and Kissing Santa Claus. Sweet.

I did start reading again. I've finished Lori Foster's and Karen Kelley's story in I'm Your Santa. Starting on Dianne Castell's today. I'm feeling reeeally great.

I'm Your Santa.

Oh just reminding myself (and showing off too):
This book is direct from Karen Kelley :)

I also missed an ARC give away of Dirty Sexy Knitting (by Christie Ridgway!) over at Riding at the Top Down. Not sure if overseas entries are allowed, but I would love to win that. Yea yea I keep having to remind myself that I have not read the first two in the series:
Christie Ridgway!

Some books I just have to save later (really later) to read. SO do NOT want the magic to end so fast.

Dirty Sexy Knitting.

Dirty Sexy Knitting is out June.

Yup, that's all.

Oh yeah. Happy New Year!

I'm been taking a break (2 weeks?) from reading to play my much neglected video games. I'm a video games bitch too but not so much as a romance novel bitch I think. Anyway, it's 2009 and I guess the new year is a good time to start afresh, do something new, and change bad habits etc..

What I hoped for the new year is to only read good books. Only read books that I will like. But can one only read books they only like? How would you know you would like a book when you haven't read it?

Love Letters from a Duke Blah blah. I'm not really back on the reading track yet, I'm still in a play-video-games mood (playing Resistance 2 for the Sony PS3 if anyone is interested to know). But I'm really looking forward to reading Elizabeth Boyle's Love Letters from a Duke, which has a nice review at Rip My Bodice. Actually I started on it a little, but got sidetracked by video games.

Anyway again, my purpose of starting this post is to say I've got a nice end to 2008, with me winning free (free! free!) books from author's blogs, and the even better part is that I already love those authors whom I received free (free! free!) books from: Karen Kelley, Susanna Carr, & Sasha White, whose books I've just received. And Meljean Brook too, but she wasn't my favourite author yet when I won the anthology First Blood. And an honorable mention to Lucinda Betts for sending me Moon Shadow (my first free book) back in 2007. ♥ ♥ Thank you thank you thank you.

I got My Prerogative (yea I know I've got the eBook format already but-) and Sexy Devil on the 30th of Dec '08 (an almost 2 months wait!) , and thought WOW. What a way to start my new year. Thanks Ms White! I'd post photos like I did with the other free books I've got, as soon as I can stop thinking about Resistance 2..

In my Mail.. from Karen Kelley!

Update: Edited broken links.

This post is long overdue. ☺

Envelope.

I'm Your Santa! ♥

^ That's the mass paperback of I'm Your Santa, an anthology by Lori Foster, Dianne Castell and Karen Kelley. I won this book over at a contest by Karen Kelley at the Brava Authors blog. Lucky me. There's glitter on the santa image, the hearts and the title. Didn't expect that. Here's a close-up:

Glitter!

The glitter makes the cover pretty, but it's still no match for the hunk on the trade paperback version:

The Trade paperback version.

Of course there're bookmarks included in the mail:
Bookmarks!

There's two of the same kind. Am I suppose to give one away? Can I don't? I wana keep all. I'm selfish like that.

The back of the bookmarks.

^ The back of the bookmarks lists the books by Karen Kelley.

And a letter:
Letter.

With a description of her up-coming book My Favorite Phantom, out Dec 30, 2008. *Notes in calendar.

I'm scared. Can I sleep in your bed?

When Professor Peyton Cache bought a big, gloomy, romantic Victorian house, he should have expected a ghost. He certainly got one, the kind that likes to float his undies around and drop slime in the stairwell for fun. But the professor can't let the rest of the faculty know he's lost his mind, so he hires a ghost hunter on the down-low. But somehow, when he booked a ghost hunter, he didn't think that he was getting a live-in leggy blonde with an attitude like a Jersey gangster and a body like a pinup poster...

Kaci Melton needs to hide out for a while, and where better to disappear than a haunted house on one of her dad's ghost-hunting jobs? All she'll have to do is deal with a crabby old professor for a couple of days and kick out one measly ghost. Two problems: the professor is a tasty young guy with piercing blue eyes, six-pack abs, and a penchant for talking dirty. And the ghost scares the panties off her...actually given the professor, maybe that's not a problem. But if she can't tell him the truth - and she can't - how is she going to get him to keep up all that wonderful sex? Especially when she's starting to kinda like him...

Don't you wana read it? Go pre-order @ Amazon.

Check out her Nerak series, Close Encounters of the Sexy Kind (book one), Cosmic Sex (book two), and The Bad Boys Guide To The Galaxy (book three). They're freaking hilarious and hot. One other book by her I've read is Temperature's Rising. I still remember how much I enjoy the moment when the hero found out that the heroine is not a hooker after all. ☺

Oh, the best part:
Autograph. ♥

Thank you Ms Kelley! ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥

Pretty Mass Market Covers.

I've read them all,
When they're in Brava trade.

They all rock,
Their covers are hot,
So they get to decorate my blog. ♥

Your Mouth Drives Me Crazy by Helenkay Dimon ♥ Your Mouth Drives Me Crazy
by Helenkay Dimon.

The title links to the trade paperback version because this mass version will be out only March '09. Happy waiting.

The next book in this series, 'It's Hotter in Hawaii' is coming out April '09. I can't wait to read this because there's Josh in it! ♥ Josh's own story will be out later next year as stated at Helenkay's blog here. Happy waiting for this too..

Temperature's Rising by Karen Kelley ♥Temperature's Rising
by Karen Kelley

Sometimes I wonder, are they trying to make those who already own the trade version buy the same book again in mass version? Well, maybe those rich, rabid fans may. I'm rabid, but sadly not rich.

Anyway, I've just finished Karen Kelley's Nerak series (here, here & here). They're damn funny & sexy and I so need more of these kind of books.

Get A Clue by Jill Shalvis ♥Get A Clue
by Jill Shalvis

I love covers with a couple embracing (or necking). It's sooo hot. ♥ Tasteful hot. Though I wish the picture on this cover is in it's original colours instead the shade of blue. Like the other three covers I posted.

I also visit Jill Shalvis' Blog for a good laugh every week too. ☺

Mouth to Mouth Erin McCarthy ♥Mouth to Mouth
by Erin McCarthy

I think I miss her comtemporary romance novels. Very much.

Wow, it really seems to be a loong time ago when I read You Don't Know Jack (and loved it).

Hmm. *Goes to put My Immortal at the top my TBR. I do hope she writes more funny vampire romance though.

After seeing that most mass market versions getting hotter covers, no, I still won't wait for them. I'm a big fan of Brava trade paper backs, and I'm not a big fan of waiting. For two years. Give me big fonts any time!

Sunday Night.

I like the cartoon on this cover.

I finished reading Karen Kelly's Temperature's Rising. Read it in one day! My favourite line is, "No wife of mine is going to put her life in jeopardy. I'm not going to sit at home and worry about where the hell you are." Sounds cheesy, and common in most romances maybe, but it still sweet. I love reading these lines. ♥

10 New Books!

The past friday, 29th June 2007, was the day when 2 major bookstores are offering discounts storewide. And it's also the day I made my record of buying the most books in a day.

Showing off what I got in the order I took from the shelves:
Oh Suite Fantasy!

I read her novella in Wildest Dreams. Loved it, wanted more, got this book, am very happy now.

Oh The Art Of Seduction!

The Art of Seduction by Katherine O'Neal

I was so happy to see The Art of Seduction! It's supposed to be out on Feb'07, so I expected to see the book on the shelves latest by April (it takes approx. 1-2 mths for books released in the states to reach major bookstores here in lil' Singapore), but I had to wait 4 months! Till end June. Begining July. Argh.

I saw this book a long time ago on the shelves, but didn't buy it because I wasn't into paranomals. But it's a different story now.

When I lay my fingers on this book, I was silently screaming in my head: "OMG! OMG! OMG!OH YES! OH YES! OMG! OH YES! I CAN'T BELIEVE THIS! OMG! OMG!" and so on.

Oh Bled Dry!

I love the cover art. I love Erin McCarthy's Vegas Vampires. The first two books in the series are already the best damn funny vampire books I've ever read.

Read the excerpt for this? It's so damn hilarious. Karen Kelly did mention on her blog quite some time ago that she may write about a dark vampire. I'm so looking forward to that!

Oh Bad Boys with Tatoos!

The title always gives me an image of a man in tuxedo holding a red rose (or a bouquet would be nice).

What She Craves!

It's a historial romance, not obvious from the sexy cover. Luckily I came across the sexy excerpt, if not I might not have wanted to buy this book yet. It's shrink-wrapped too. I wish all books on the stores are shrink-wrapped so I don't have to waste time scrutinizing all copies to find one that isn't destroyed by the rough-handling by inconsiderate browsers.

I saw Alluring Tales first (an anothology with Sylvia Day in it too), but I placed it back on the shelf after I spotted this book. Because I was really, really tired carrying 9 books in my hand by now. Alluring Tales can wait.

It's a sexy book with chocolates mentioned, why shouldn't I get this?

Lastly, my arms/hands/fingers hurt bad carrying 10 trade paperbacks home.
