Sunday Rants. What to read, and more rants.

I'm been having problems with reading. I started on a book, and stopped reading 45 mins later. The next day, I started on another book, and stopped reading 30 mins later. And as of now, I'm thinking of starting another book.

On defense of the books, they aren't horrible, but they just don't seem to interest me at the moment. Now, I think I would like something light, and funny. Definitely need funny. Contemporary helps too.

*Turns to grab the TBR pile closest to me.
One of the PILE.

Poor Nathan Kamp's face got wiped out by the camera flash. (See Angela Knight's Master of the Night book spine?)

Garters is the last classic of Pamela Morsi left in my TBR. Unread. No way in hell I'm gonna read it anytime soon. Think I have to take two weeks off work for that, one day to read it, and the other thirteen days to recover from emotional breakdown.

Hmm.. Maybe Your Coffin or Mine or I'm Your Santa. Maybe I'm Your Santa. Something short. Ooh maybe I should go check out all those super short Harlequin eBooks. Maybe. Can someone just send me links? I feel so lazy to look for books to read. Wait, I hear someone say that I should smack myself.

Rydstrom is mine. And I've glanced through (not read no way) numerous reviews of Kiss of a Demon King and !@#$%^ them because I've not got my hands on the book. No I don't want an eBook of that, I want a nice physical book to cuddle up to read. (Darn you local bookstores! When are you gonna stock them?! Amazon is NOT a choice!) Really can't wait to read about a possessive Rydstrom. Want to read it soo much.

Two pretty covers:
Photobucket Photobucket

Better visit the Elizabeth Boyle's website only for info on these two books. Better NOT read the synopsis on Amazon (it's a spoiler IMHO).

And this from Romantic Times:
Photobucket

Isn't Robin Schone's cover gorgeous? Look at that colour! It looks more reddish on Amazon though. I hope it's really pink like above.

And this..
Hard and Fast by Erin McCarthy
.. is just too hot not to post on my blog. And do you know that Erin McCarthy got a new website design? I just discovered it a few seconds ago. It's looks great!

Are you using Google Reader? It spoils me. I should really make it a point to click to see the original post instead of reading it from Google Reader.

Sasha White goodies!
I swear I'm gonna post photos soon of the books I won at a giveaway by Sasha White. (Thank you again!)

Need more..

Madison & Danny & Gorgeous/Buster/MontyI got the eBook of The Natural by Abby Gaines because it's a free download at Books on Board. And then I started on this book because I wanted to read something short at the moment. But in the end, I enjoyed the book too much and then found it too darn short. It's a really cute book.

Cynical NASCAR driver Danny Cruise meets tender-hearted vet Madison Beale when he runs over a dog. When Danny adopts the dog as a Christmas publicity stunt to revive his flagging reputation, he gets a whole lot more than he bargained for…

This is also one of "four NASCAR-themed Christmas novellas" in the anthology A NASCAR Holiday 2, with Pamela Britton, Gina Wilkins, and Ken Casper. Why not try The Natural first since it's free?

Gwenna & NateAnd how I felt when approaching the end of The Natural, is the same when I finished reading Sucker Bet (by Erin McCarthy). Not enough. Want more. Still, a light read with lots of laughable moments, I really had a great time (not surprising) reading Sucker Bet. But High Stakes is the best of this series. I love re-reading the many funny moments between Ethan and Alexis. ♥

Reading order - High Stakes, Bit the Jackpot, Bled Dry, and lastly, Sucker Bet. All very re-readable books.

Finished Dark Lover. What Next?

Wrath & Beth 4evah.Just finished Dark Lover, and shucks at the end. I love reading about that kind of love.

For a big tough guy like Wrath, I'd thought he'd only break down and admit his love for Beth only at the end of the story, only after killing the bad guy. But yay I was wrong. ♥

I am totally charmed by the brothers. All of them. Z included. And Butch too. How can I not love his first meeting with Marissa? I feel like skipping Rhage's and Zsadist's book and read about Butch and Marissa asap. I thought they're cute together.

--------------------

So what to read next? I do wana continue this Black Dagger Brotherhood series, but I thought it'd be kinda sad if I devour them too fast and there'd be no more of them a week later. *Shrugs.

So, randomly choosing: Lara Adrian's Kiss of Midnight? Erin McCarthy's Sucker Bet? (<- Yea why the hell have I not started on this yet) Christie Warren's One Bite with a Stranger?

Hmm, all vampires.

As much as I love vampires, I should take a break from them.

Where are the contemporaries dammit!

Reading Update & Hooray Contemporaries.

I'm yours Wrath.I'm about halfway through Dark Lover now, I love how Wrath is when it comes to Beth. So far my favourite part is when after they did it the first time and a shirtless Wrath as getting ready to leave, and he tells Beth to 'Come here' and he kisses her. This is the time when I fervently wish I was Beth. ☺

The Mating Game. And I just went to Janice Maynard's website and clicked on her coming soon in July 2009 book. It's called Mating Game. The cover image is the same as the one used for the mass paperback of Erin McCarthy's Mouth to Mouth. Both are pretty covers, both are great authors. ☺ Hot Mail is out in January 2009! And Erin McCarthy's Flat-Out Sexy is out now. ♥ Three cheers for contemporaries!

I'm so sad!

I love the two books in Erin McCarthy's New York Girlfriends series: The Pregnancy Test and You Don't Know Jack. Love them.
Where's Allison's & Caroline's?
And I've been looking forward for like.. FOREVER, to read about the other two roommates in this serie. Now, almost two years later, even after reading other Erin McCarthy's fabulous works (High Stakes, Bit the Jackpot, I just have to name them), I'm still eagering waiting.

But then I just noticed this little note at Erin McCarthy's website here (how long has it been there?), and to quote everything:

A note from Erin:

Thanks so much for all the interest in reading stories for Allison and Caroline, the two other roommates in The Pregnancy Test and You Don't Know Jack. While I originally intended to write books for them, a change in publishers has made this impossible at the moment. Hopefully some day soon I'll be able to write a 'Happily Ever After' for Allison and Caroline!

Sadness!

I can wait. But please don't say never.

Pretty Mass Market Covers.

I've read them all,
When they're in Brava trade.

They all rock,
Their covers are hot,
So they get to decorate my blog. ♥

Your Mouth Drives Me Crazy by Helenkay Dimon ♥ Your Mouth Drives Me Crazy
by Helenkay Dimon.

The title links to the trade paperback version because this mass version will be out only March '09. Happy waiting.

The next book in this series, 'It's Hotter in Hawaii' is coming out April '09. I can't wait to read this because there's Josh in it! ♥ Josh's own story will be out later next year as stated at Helenkay's blog here. Happy waiting for this too..

Temperature's Rising by Karen Kelley ♥Temperature's Rising
by Karen Kelley

Sometimes I wonder, are they trying to make those who already own the trade version buy the same book again in mass version? Well, maybe those rich, rabid fans may. I'm rabid, but sadly not rich.

Anyway, I've just finished Karen Kelley's Nerak series (here, here & here). They're damn funny & sexy and I so need more of these kind of books.

Get A Clue by Jill Shalvis ♥Get A Clue
by Jill Shalvis

I love covers with a couple embracing (or necking). It's sooo hot. ♥ Tasteful hot. Though I wish the picture on this cover is in it's original colours instead the shade of blue. Like the other three covers I posted.

I also visit Jill Shalvis' Blog for a good laugh every week too. ☺

Mouth to Mouth Erin McCarthy ♥Mouth to Mouth
by Erin McCarthy

I think I miss her comtemporary romance novels. Very much.

Wow, it really seems to be a loong time ago when I read You Don't Know Jack (and loved it).

Hmm. *Goes to put My Immortal at the top my TBR. I do hope she writes more funny vampire romance though.

After seeing that most mass market versions getting hotter covers, no, I still won't wait for them. I'm a big fan of Brava trade paper backs, and I'm not a big fan of waiting. For two years. Give me big fonts any time!

10 New Books!

The past friday, 29th June 2007, was the day when 2 major bookstores are offering discounts storewide. And it's also the day I made my record of buying the most books in a day.

Showing off what I got in the order I took from the shelves:
Oh Suite Fantasy!

I read her novella in Wildest Dreams. Loved it, wanted more, got this book, am very happy now.

Oh The Art Of Seduction!

The Art of Seduction by Katherine O'Neal

I was so happy to see The Art of Seduction! It's supposed to be out on Feb'07, so I expected to see the book on the shelves latest by April (it takes approx. 1-2 mths for books released in the states to reach major bookstores here in lil' Singapore), but I had to wait 4 months! Till end June. Begining July. Argh.

I saw this book a long time ago on the shelves, but didn't buy it because I wasn't into paranomals. But it's a different story now.

When I lay my fingers on this book, I was silently screaming in my head: "OMG! OMG! OMG!OH YES! OH YES! OMG! OH YES! I CAN'T BELIEVE THIS! OMG! OMG!" and so on.

Oh Bled Dry!

I love the cover art. I love Erin McCarthy's Vegas Vampires. The first two books in the series are already the best damn funny vampire books I've ever read.

Read the excerpt for this? It's so damn hilarious. Karen Kelly did mention on her blog quite some time ago that she may write about a dark vampire. I'm so looking forward to that!

Oh Bad Boys with Tatoos!

The title always gives me an image of a man in tuxedo holding a red rose (or a bouquet would be nice).

What She Craves!

It's a historial romance, not obvious from the sexy cover. Luckily I came across the sexy excerpt, if not I might not have wanted to buy this book yet. It's shrink-wrapped too. I wish all books on the stores are shrink-wrapped so I don't have to waste time scrutinizing all copies to find one that isn't destroyed by the rough-handling by inconsiderate browsers.

I saw Alluring Tales first (an anothology with Sylvia Day in it too), but I placed it back on the shelf after I spotted this book. Because I was really, really tired carrying 9 books in my hand by now. Alluring Tales can wait.

It's a sexy book with chocolates mentioned, why shouldn't I get this?

--------------------

Lastly, my arms/hands/fingers hurt bad carrying 10 trade paperbacks home.

Pink Books Showtime!

Can't really think of a better title for this post. Anyway, I Only Have Fangs for You and Pink Ice just made me thought of some other pretty pink (or near pink/shades of pink/any pink/magenta can do too) books that I have:

Standing In The Shadows.

Standing In The Shadows by Shannon Mckenna - This goes first because it's my favourite of all the pink books story wise. Nobody writes like Shannon Mckenna. Period.

Two pinks by Christie Ridgway~

Not Another New Year's and An Offer He Can't Refuse by Christie Ridgway - I've finished An Offer He Can't Refuse, but Not Another New Year's in still my TBR. Christie Ridgway writes about family, friends, love, family, life, death, family, and even more family, friends, and love stuff.

I get emotional all the time reading her books.

Emotional = lots of tears flowing = heart-warming = another favourite author.

Oh there're lots of humorous moments in her books too to keep me laughing instead of crying all the time. Great, great, great, author.

Sealed With A Kiss~

Sealed with a Kiss - Loved the envolope image on the cover. Pamela Morsi is another author who writes sweet heart-warming stories that I love. Her older releases are very, very hard to find. All the books I own by Pamela Morsi are gotten from second-hand shops. I was lucky that those I found are still in very good condition.

The Heart's Haven~

The Heart's Haven by Jill Barnett. Jill Barnett's books are among the first few romances that I've read and loved. Try her Wonderful, Wild, and Wicked historial romance series. I give them big thumbs ups.

JULIAN BABY!

Alison Kent's The Samms Agenda - I like the pink namecard thing clipped to the folder, so this belongs here too. And also because Julian Samms is my favorite of the SG-5 hunks, so his book deserves this space more than the others. And also plus the fact that he swears in Mandarin! You know, I felt a connection with him every time he utters some chinese phrases. (Yes! I'm Chinese! I know Mandarin! Ha! Big revelation!)

And I just had to add this before I hit publish and go to bed:

The Pregnancy Test!

I've got 5 new books!

*swoon!*

So, envy me.

Yesterday, I only planned go to renew my free membership at a bookstore than then and grab some Aphrodisia books, but I "accidentally" checked my email before I left my home, and ended up printing discount coupons emailed from another bookstore, and thus making a trip there too.

And wow, I remember having a big headache (there're just too many damn books that I want).

I decided to pick up Erin McCarthy's High Stakes and Bit the Jackpot, and also Men at Work (which is related to Surf's Up). Reasons being I need more sexy vampires in my life now and that these books rarely turn up at any bookstores anymore (because I'm always late in discovering books).

Anyway, I was ALMOST wanted to jump and scream for joy, seeing P.J Mellor's Give Me More on the shelf.

Ever since I've read P.J Mellor'sPleasure Beach (My first Aphrodisia book actually), her books became an automatic must-buy for me. Her heroes are cute (I know I use this adjective alot) and I feel that her stories have a little bit of the fairytale theme, those love-at-sight (ok it's more of lust-at-first-sight) and got-married-and-live-happily-ever-after thingies.

And how can I not pickup The Firefighter too?

I need Vampire Romance! Like... NOW!!!

Ok, not now, so I'll just have to content myself with reading excerpts online.

Currently, the only book that I own with vampires in it is the anthology Surf's Up.

Surf's Up!!

I never thought I would ever take up reading paranormal romances (or at least I thought I wasn't interested in them). But I picked up Surf's Up (knowing it contains two paranormal stories) because I was in a bookstore with 20% off storewide at that time and I was really aching to buy something. And so, with the hot bod on the cover, I gave up resisting the book and bought it.

I thought I'd like Janelle Denison's Hot and Bothered the most because it's a normal contempary romance, but no, MaryJanice Davidson's Paradise Bossed and Nina Bangs' Hot Summer Bites actually appealed to me alot more (to my own surprise too).

By the way, I want to take this chance to mention that my favourite story of Janelle Denison is Something Wilde from the anthology I Brake For Bad Boys. ☺

The ending for MaryJanice Davidson's Paradise Bossed is really sweet. I don't know how many times I read the last chapter, and oh (since the book is right infront of me as I type) *flips to the last chapter and reads it again

***

Ok! Having finish reading that, now on to Hot Summer Bites by Nina Bangs!

Now, I do see the advantage of having a paranormal theme. If it's a normal story, how would you get the hunk to join minds with the lucky woman who he's going have sex with and tell her that he loves her (in her mind) before they make love? How can any normal people do that?! Well, that sexy vampire Taurin in Hot Summer Bites did it!

Score: Vampires ONE, Basically anybody else unless they have special powers too ZERO.

The plus point of reading paranormal romances: experience especially sweet/sexy/heart-warming moments that you can never get in normal romances.

Oh by the way, yesterday I finally read the excerpts from Erin McCarthy's two books in the Las Vegas Vampires series: High Stakes and Bit the Jackpot. The excerpts alone made me hungry for even more vampires. My absolute favourite part of the excerpt from Bit the Jackpot is when the heroine Cara told vampire Seamus to take a fucking hike.

Vampire Love, anyone?
